We've Been Cooking!

I’ll be honest: what with spending 9 million hours in lab, preparing a couple presentations, and spending a good bit of time running by the lake, biking through vineyards, and exploring Lausanne, cooking hasn’t been super high on the priority list. There are a lot of nights in which dinner consists of leftovers, or leftovers mixed with other leftovers, or simply a random assortment of what happens to be in the fridge.

However! Despite being busy, we have been cooking (those leftovers have to come from somewhere, right?) and it’s been turning out fairly well! Cooking is definitely one of my new favorite hobbies.

Cooking Adventure 1: Tomato and Olive Penne

I loved the way this turned out. I followed this recipe fairly closely, although, if I made it again, I’d probably double everything (except for garlic, which I’d totally quadruple), as I tend to like pasta on the sauce-y side. Ben and I were both ridiculously hungry that night, so I never took a finished-product table-photo, but I’m sure you can imagine how delicious complete pasta looked…

Cooking Adventure 2: Ben Cooks!

Although I generally blog about the dinners I make, to be fair, Ben actually does most of the cooking. There are many nights when I’d happily settle for scrambled eggs and grapes, but Ben decides we should probably have a proper dinner. Unlike me, he doesn’t really do the whole recipe thing, but nevertheless, his creations are always delicious.

Finally: Happy Halloween! Some folks from my lab gave an excellent and unique Halloween party this weekend, and we had a fantastic time! I'll be posting pictures in the next day or so!
