It's a long drive to Mississippi.

I'll admit it-- this post is long, long overdue.

So overdue, in fact, that I debated whether I should even bother writing about it at all. This wedding, you see, took place in July and as far as I know, it isn't exactly July anymore.

However! This was easily one of my favorite weekends of the summer. Only two days after moving into my new apartment in Durham, I set off with a few friends on a ridiculous road trip to Jackson, Mississippi. And by "ridiculous", I really do mean ridiculous: We drove 13 hours on Friday, went to the wedding on Saturday, and then drove 13 hours again on Sunday. Whew!

Ridiculous as it may be, the trip was definitely, definitely worth it. The weekend was filled with good conversation, silly car games, midnight milkshakes, old friends, teary eyes, delicious food, and dancing under the Mississippi stars. It was, in short, absolutely perfect, and despite being three months overdue, I couldn't resist not sharing the fun.

one of my favorite parts of the wedding? there was a trolley to transport
guests from the ceremony to the reception!
margaret + me
ben and me on the trolley (and carefully cropping out the whole "just married"
sign, haha)

maddie and lee, one of my all-time favorite couples :)

reception! I loved the hanging pendent-- it's made out
of flowers!
dukies in mississippi! wedding are so great for bringing friends together.
freshman year roommates!
I LOVE this photo! aren't they adorable?
I thought this was a super cute idea-- Lauren and Thomas (the bride and
groom) had put up old photos of their parents, grandparents, and even
great (and great-great!) grandparents on their wedding days!

  2. Looks like a fun wedding. And WOW, what a road trip. I'm a big fan of road trips, though, so I'd definitely be up for it!
