Spaghetti Success

I have the best boyfriend. I really, really do.

Case in point:

After a long day of studying and feeling under the weather, I decide to take a nap. Half an hour or so later, I wake up to Ben tapping me on the shoulder, telling me dinner is ready! What a lovely surprise!

spaghetti topped in (finally yummy!) sauce and gruyere
cheese; mixed greens and bell peppers.
Ben and I had tried making spaghetti two other times, but it never really panned out.  It wasn’t our fault, I promise- I’m a pretty bad cook, but I can at least make spaghetti! The first time we were being overly ambitious (and cheap) and thought we could just make our own sauce with canned tomatoes, a few spices, some veggies. The second time, we bought a jar of what appeared to be perfectly good pre-made sauce, but was actually a strange and barely-edible tomato mush. Both times resulted in some pretty unappetizing pasta, and left our kitchen smelling funky to boot.

This spaghetti, however, was perfect—even if the jars of sauce we bought were small and overpriced. That’s okay. It was delicious!

French word of the day: pâtes: pasta
